  • Served as Senior Rabbi to the only full service Conservative synagogue in Birmingham, Alabama
  • Provided pastoral care for a multi-age community  including births, deaths, illness, celebrations and life changes
  • Helped to stabilize a shrinking membership reversing the trend with new growth in several age groups
  • Partnered with lay leadership to create lay led services and to coordinate lay Torah readers facilitating the smooth operation of Shabbat services
  • Taught Adult Education courses in Bible, Mishna, and Liturgy, in classroom, lunch and learn, and seminar settings
  • Initiated new interfaith Bible class at University of Alabama, Birmingham (UAB) Hospital in conjunction with hospital chaplains
  • Organized program for local conversion candidates and helped other congregations facilitate conversions in synagogue mikvah
  • Designed Scholar in Residence programs
  • Worked with Executive Director to format new synagogue website
  • Collaborated with Task Force to improve Shabbat programming
  • Reworked Family Erev Shabbat service to include more participation by attendees
  • Assisted synagogue officers to balance synagogue budget and address past deficitsRabbi at Minyan
  • Established fundraising program to increase donations from major givers
  • Raised profile of congregation in the community by work at JCC, Clergy Association, AIPAC, Israel Bonds, Mercaz USA,  social action and social justice organizations in Greater Birmingham
  • Reconciled different factions within the synagogue so all groups could work together for the advancement of Temple Beth-El
